Preventing Corruption in KFTD: Key Roles of the Gratification Control Unit

PT Kimia Farma Trading & Distribution (KFTD) as part of Kimia Farma Group adheres to the principles of Good Corporate Governance and consistently upholds high integrity. In order to ensure each work unit is free of any legal infractions such as gratification and corruption, theGratification Control Unit (Unit Pengendali Gratifikasi/UPG) has been established.

What is the Gratification Control Unit?

The Gratification Control Unit is a specialized work unit responsible for controling bribery practices inside an organization or company. At KFTD, the UPG is designed to support the company to maintain a clean, transparent, and responsible environment. The UPG has responsibilities in handling bribery cases from reporting to resolution, according to all relevant regulations and requirements.

Duties of the Gratification Control Unit

The UPG, the unit in charge of prevent corruption and gratification, has several essential tasks:

  • Preparing guidelines: The UPG is responsible to create technical guidelines to help with the implementation of gratification control.
  • Socialization: The UPG must conduct socialization efforts for all KFTD employees, the general public, and other parties concerned, including stakeholders.
  • Report analysis: The UPG must examine and handle any gratification reports received.
  • Reporting: The UPG must provide the Head of the UPG with the management results for acceptance and rejection of gratification, as well as policy recommendations.
  • Item maintenance: The UPG has the responsibility to hold gratification objects until their status is determined.
  • Coordination with KPK: The UPG must build ties with the Corruption Eradication Commission (Komisi Pemberantasan Komisi/KPK) by coordinating and consulting on received gratification reports.
  • Evaluation: The UPG has the responsibility to conduct evaluation of the Gratification Control Program in order to ensure that it is effective and on target.

These duties are critical to the Gratification Control Unit of KFTD. However, all of KFTD members are also responsible for upholding control over gratification on a constant basis. Every department in the company has a duty to prevent bribery and corruption by reporting any suspicious legal activities, such as corruption or gratification in order to support the company’s commitment to good corporate governance.
